After four weeks of dieting and some serious excercise I am proud to say that I am now under 180 lbs! I haven't seen the scale break 180 since about 12 years ago, so it was a pretty cool feeling when I saw it. I wouldn't say that I was overweight beforehand and I would say that I was in pretty good shape, but RevFit is taking me to the next level and I am loving every second of it. When I tell people about my diet there seems to be a few standard reactions: 1) WHY?? 2) You're crazy and 3) You look great.
My favorite is clearly number 3, but I thought I'd clarify why I am doing this. I've never had the desire to be extremely fit, I have wanted to be in better than average shape, but I have always been satisfied with that. I always found that a personal trainer makes each and every workout extremely efficient and I missed having one. My previous trainer Christina had moved on from my gym to RevFit and I depended on the advice of Men's Health for most of my workouts. While I occasionally had a decent workout, none were great, it was difficult to kick my own butt and maintain that better than average fitness. I approached Christina and told her I wanted back in and luckily I was able to partner Aruba Tan and RevFit in what is going to be an awesome relationship. Mariah (my trainer) set the bar high with a 5% body-fat goal and I thought, "why not?" I'm 28, it's time to get my sh** together, and this is a great way to do it.
So to all those who don't understand why I'm dieting or why I am saying no to that drink or night on the town...I've been there...done that, and now I'm trying something new. Hard work, dedication, and a strong-will is putting my life on a different track for the time being. I'm not changing, just bettering myself one day at a time. My ultimate goal is to get ripped for this challenge and then maintain a healthier and fitter lifestyle while still having fun and enjoying my favorite thing in the world...good food! I'm hooked on healthy and I can't wait to see the transformation that lies ahead in the next 8 weeks. I'll keep you posted.

28 years old ain't so bad!
I am 10 days in to my program and I'm loving every second of it. It hasn't been easy, but it hasn't been impossible either. Right now I am on a 1700 calorie a day diet, working out 6 times a week, and am definitely making progress. I have already lost over 6 pounds!
I was thrown right in the mix with tough workouts where I burn about 1000 calories in an hour. With a mixture of weight training and cardio I feel like I'll hit my weight loss goals pretty quick. Then comes the fine tuning, the muscle gain, body sculpting, the dieting to make my body do just what I need; that's going to be the tough part.
As far as my food goes, during week 1, Snap Kitchen was my savior. With pre-measured and labeled meals that are ready to eat and taste pretty dang good, I feel the only thing I sacrificed was $$$ (about $8 per meal). It was great though as I didn't have much time to cook last week. Easter weekend was tough as I went home and for the first time in a VERY long while and skipped my favorite meal in the world: Avila's Chile Con Queso Steak. This isn't Tex-mex queso, this is green chile melted in to special cheese that they age for 45 days just for this plate, and then generously top over a piece of juicy fatty ground beef. It's amazing, but it is also probably well over 1000 calories, so I skipped it. Sunday was my cheat day and I indulged in my first beer since before Ash Wednesday at about 9:15 am...it was awesome!
This week has been great, I started cooking at home and have hit my calorie and workout goals every single day. I am literally drooling over my planned cheat meal on Sunday though...I'm thinking Franklin's BBQ around 11 am and then a big fat juicy hamburger for dinner! Two more workouts to go, then I get my rest day and cheat day.
The changes in the pictures below are minimal which makes me anxious for the photoshoot that is 10 weeks away! I can't wait to see what happens. Thanks to everyone for their support and overall curiosity with this journey..I've gotta show you all that I can do it and that accountabillity is great motivation!
Have a good weekend!
